Go with what feels good to call the baby. I call my son Monkeyboy, Monkey or sometimes just baby boy. My daughter called him Mr. Periwinkle but she insists that he has outgrown it (he's only 2).
And my MIL calls all her grandchildren 'little puppy'.
Is there a list of cute names for a grandmother to call a new baby like sweet pea or sugar dumpling?
In Quebec (translated from French), terms of endearment are: my little cabbage, my little rabbit, my little kitten. I've never heard anyone here in the U.S. use the term "my little cabbage" but if someone calls you that in Quebec, they really, really love you (like a grandmother loves you).
Reply:That name will come from your heart don't even worry about it
Reply:A nickname will come to you. . . You can't just "name" a person a nickname.
I call my nephews "Bevis" and "Fatboy" (settle down - he is hardly fat!!). I have called them those names since they can remember. They rather enjoy them, and are sure to inform me if I don't call them by those names!
My daughter is "Peanut Butter" (I don't know why - it just came to me). My sister I call "Fish Head" (there is a story behind that one!).
My grandmother called me "PJ" (my initials). To this day, she is the only one I will allow to call me that. My Aunt and Uncle call me "Pa Jean" (a version of my name - my cousin couldn't say my name when we were little.). My dad calls me "Punkin". He always has.
Something will come, and when it does, it will stick! And they will love it (even if they say they don't!).

My dad called me Luv my whole life, but now one else could call me that, and my mom called me mean bean. Some times I call my kids different nicknames like: Chunky Monkey, Buddah, buba(what my girls call their brother cuz they cant say brother)fatso(they are not fat, they never sit still enough for fat to settle anywhere), Bean head, monkey butt. What ever comes to mine. My mom calls my son grandson(she is the only one who can call him that) and my girls her angels.

Reply:My mom calls my boys Duck (my older son) and Frog (my younger son). She walks in every morning (she watches them while I work) and says, "Good morning Duck! Good morning Froggie!" My younger son is only a year, so he's not "talking" yet, but my older son (27 months) calls her "Meena". We don't know where it came from...he just started calling her Meena one day. :)
