Curiosity about English boys?

If an English boy calls a girl "sweet pea" or "luv" or "luvy"....... do you think he likes her? -i'm italian, i've just this curiosity....

Curiosity about English boys?
it's a term of affection, but not necessarily serious. english guys can be more 'just friends' than many other cultures. but time will tell. if you hang around him long enough, you'll find out.
Reply:We use the word luv in a since of like my dear friend, it does not mean he is in love with you.
Reply:no it just a firgure of speech
Reply:Yeah definately.

On another note...ENGLISH BOYS HAVE HOT ACCENTS
Reply:TRUST ME YOU DN'T WANT TO DATE the english killing scum
Reply:Now look, just so there's no confusion here, I am old, like really old, so don't make the same mistake another lovely Italian girl made and imagine I might be some young stud! haha!

Anyway, I am from the the UK, and although I have never actually called anyone 'sweet pea' or 'luv' and especially not 'luvy', you can take it that they are being friendly. 'Sweet pea' is quite nice, and is meant in the nicest possible way, since sweet pea flowers are beautifully delicate with the most wonderful range of colours from whites and pastels to very strong and deep red, mauve, violet and purple.

The latter two are somewhat more general and can be used by East End barrow boys (to grab the possible youthful element) or more usually, older blokes talking to old dears! Ha ha. However, as I say, they are friendly greetings or terms to refer to a woman or girl and don't imply any offence. I think that if they happen to fancy you, and they are the correct age range, they will find better and hopefully more meaningful words.
Reply:Not necessarily. I think English people just do that (I'm not English)
Reply:Yes, its a term of endearment.
Reply:sweet pea? is he from the 1930's?
Reply:I don't think you shoud judge English boys in general. Each have their own personalities, and it is based on them. For some English boys, it is just out of sweetness, or to familiarize themselves with you.
Reply:might not be, some parts of the county use that as little more than a standard greeting.

sorry.
Reply:No, it's just a normal way of talking.

Btw English boys do not "like" females. They fall in love with each other.
Reply:These can be just an informal form of address. They do not necessarily imply affection. In Devon, it is common for locals around Plymouth to call people "my lover...!", but it doesn't mean they have been intimate!
Reply:its just a term of endearment doesnt always mean he likes her in that way
Reply:Irish/Jewish wives complain less than English wives.
Reply:He could do, my boyfriend calls me sweet pea. Depends on the guys nature. I call my friends (girls and boys) luv and luvvy.
Reply:usually theyre just being friendly

you could be reading into it too much

then again, some people do. It depends on the type of person
Reply:I don;t think so. I know a few English guys and they always call me things like that, especially "darling". I'm pretty sure they don't like me like that.
