Can sweet Pea survive in upstate NY?
Some Sweet Peas are annuals and some perennial and both do well here in "Gods tantrum climate" North Dakota, so I'm sure they will grow in your tropical climate! I've found that they like to be planted a little deeper than the package recommends and the perennials ones like the south side of my house. RScott
Reply:They are annuals.
Reply:Sweet pea is an annual, so you would just plant it fresh each spring. I had some come back in my garden here in Maine, but it was a really warm winter and I wouldn't count on it happening again! You can sow the seeds early because they'll tolerate a mild frost. They like a little bit of shade in the afternoon. Where hydrangeas flourish, sweet peas will be happy too.
Reply:not normally because they are an annual, but i have seen a perennial sweet pea in a catalog.
