Ok... so now they have sprouted.... cute little baby leaves.... should I re-plant the ROOT part of them in my backyard and leave the leaves on the surface of the soil? because i want peas and rutabegas to grow on them.... thanks.

Or are you saying it's an option to re-plant the whole thing, leaves and all, IN the ground? hhmmm .
If the roots are intertwined in the cotton, plant that 'bulb' just far enough in the ground to cover the roots.
Info from the 'seeds' site: "...Plant rutabaga seed outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked. Plant in rows 2 feet apart, spacing rutabaga seed 1 inch in the row. Cover seed with 1/2 inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Keep soil moist until rutabaga seeds start to grow.
