We got some peas from someone, and I'm wondering how one can tell whether the outside pod can be eaten whole or if they need to be shelled. I've been eating them whole, and they taste good and sweet, but they are a bit stringy and sometimes I have to spit them out.
Plus I bought some "Sugar snap pea" seeds and have planted them in my garden. They are almost ready to pick, but wondering if those will need to be shelled also? I hope not though.
Snap pea question?
If it tastes good for you, just chomp away.
But normally snow peas are slower to fill, and people eat those in salads, etc.
Snap peas get the seeds inside filled up, and you shell them when they look nice and plump enough to you...DEpending on teh variety, they'll get 3 - 4" long..
Reply:you can eat them either way i prefer with the pod b/c it gives it a sweet taste without actually added sugar.and i hate peas but i love sugar snap peas.so you just have to clean the pod anc cutt of a little bit of each end so you dont get the brown part.
Reply:You can eat pod and all if that is what you like. Sugar snap peas are best pod and all.
